Hello everyone,
I am trying to add an area light to a scene that I generated from a native Rhino 7 file (last updated beginning Jan. this year). I am using Keyshot 11.2.1 Pro. I am encountering a warning signalling that area lights in combination with nurbs are not supported. I admit ignorance as to the specifics of the mathematics involved, however, the object that I am applying the area light to is nothing more than a rectangle. Therefore, I am having a hard time understanding, why what I am trying to do actually creates an issue, and also, which alternative light type I should be using instead; I have tried switching from lumen to lux with no avail, should I be applying the area light to a surface only? Is this a tesselation issue?
Irritated and grateful for pointers in the right direction, Bastian
Ok, so obviously if I export to a nurbs-filetype, I will run into this issue. Exporting to Step and disabling NURBS-Export seems to be the way to go. Unfortunately, if one has already set the scene up on the basis of the 3dm format, updating geometry with the Step-file with the same scene will cause a crash. In other words, I seem to have to start from scratch.
If you’ve imported a file that supports NURBs, you can disable the Render NURBs option on a per-object basis. This should be an option below the scene tree in the object’s settings. See if that resolves the warning issue.
Another cheat which might work if the approach of Will doesn’t work is to export the scene from KeyShot as FBX and than import it again in new model set and telling it should use materials from the scene. After that you can delete the old stuff.
Of course this isn’t much help if you did a lot of animations etc.
